Don’t underestimate the many sleep benefits for the body. A deep, uninterrupted sleep session, will have you feeling refreshed, energized and ready to crush your goals! It is recommended that on average we need minimum 7 hours of sleep for our body to fully go through our REM Cycle and for our bodies to reap the full benefits of that cycle.
Here are some of the benefits of getting your beauty sleep:
1: Muscle Gains While sleeping the body releases growth hormones and builds new muscle cells. It revitalizes your cells and repairs tissue damage. This is particularly beneficial for anyone who lifts weights, as the exercises we use in our lifting sessions cause micro tears in the muscles that allow them to grow back bigger and stronger. Sleep provides your body the time it needs to fully repair these torn muscles to maximize your muscle size and strength. #gains 💪🏼
2: Burning Fat While You Sleep?! Sleeping assists in regulating the levels of ghrelin and leptin in your body. These 2 hormones control hunger and appetite. Sleep also stimulates production of human growth hormones which support and speed up your body’s fat burning processes.
3: Peak Performance! If you want to improve your athletic performance, getting quality sleep every day can help you achieve this goal. Studies have found that a well-rested athlete is able to increase their endurance, feel less tired and have more overall stamina during the day.
4: Sleep More, Stress Less. When your body is sleep deprived, it goes into stress mode. Which causes a spike in blood pressure and cortisol! [See my previous post about stress for more info!] By getting enough sleep on a regular basis, you can keep your body out of stress mode and stay in a calm, relaxed state.
